Front Rite is a tight knit community that is fuelled by a passion for Electronic Dance Music. Over 13,000 members strong, our group is at the forefront of the dance music scene in Montreal.
Our ultimate goal is to create a vibrant, inclusive dance floor experience everywhere we go. By organizing diverse events that promote local & international artists, we aim to be a voice in Electronic Dance Music.
We’re excited to catch up with FOVOS, the duo making waves in the techno scene, who will be playing at Montreal’s Newspeak on November 9th presented by NEON. Known for their powerful sound and high-energy performances, they're quickly becoming a global sensation.
Why the name FOVOS? What does it mean?
When we were first starting out we wanted to make sure we found a name no other artist had and we wanted it to be from one of the cultures we’re apart of. It’s funny when we chose it we were both in the car going through Croatian and Greek words trying to figure out something that had a bit of a ring to it. We eventually settled on FOVOS which in greek translates to fear. Since then we’ve later attached even more meaning to that word.
How does it feel to finally start getting more global recognition and doing more shows outside of Oceania?
Feels fantastic! The North America tour has been fantastic and all the fans have been so supportive. Everyone is so nice as well. Hopefully we can keep it up in 2025!
What prompted the shift from tech house to techno?
Tech house kinda sucks and in techno we trust. Nah just kidding house music is still very special to us. But we’ve always liked techno and after seeing the success of the late I_O we thought that making music we are more passionate about is the right move.
What’s the most unhinged or hilarious thing that’s happened to you at a show?
Stopping and restarting a show three times in Denver because the crowd kept sticking around and wanting more.
Where did you get the best green room food?
WAO club in Sydney made little cupcakes fors us with our logo on them. They were absolutely delicious, needless to say we need to go back.
Which song’s success made you think, “Okay, now this is serious”?
Feel the Rhythm being played on the Ultra main stage was definitely a turning point for us. That track really helped us to reach a new audience and we haven’t looked back since.
Who would you like to collaborate with that you haven’t worked with yet? And what about a B2B set?
The list is big. Eli brown, Sara Landry, Dom Dolla, Carl Cox, etc. But there are also some underground artists we are keen to get something out with soon like Tavatli, Tazi, Disfreq, HIJCKD.
Who can finish a shoey faster?
Lorenzo, by far. It’s no even a contest. Ask him and he’ll prove it.
